A Bauchi group 'Bauchi Concerned Citizens Teachers' has pleaded with the immediate past governor of the state, Barr Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, to run for governorship of Bauchi state come 2027 polls.
The group, according to its chairman, Comrade Abubakar Umar, if M.A Abubakar failed to heed to its calls for a second term in office, it would take a legal action against him.
It could be recalled that the former governor won election in 2015 under the APC when he had his first term tenure for four years as the Chief Executive of the state, but was defeated to assume a second term by the then PDP candidate and the Bauchi state Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
Comrade Abubakar Umar at the end of the group's meeting yesterday in Bauchi, explained that, "We have understand that Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has democratically, politically, socially, economically, and humanely led Bauchi state for four consecutive years of his first term tenure which inspire us for a repeat of his governance".
According to him, they were particularly inspired by the former governor's style of leadership that has respect and good regards for the traditional institution and civil servants to whom has his doors always remain open for advises and suggestions on governance.
Umar stated that the group is fully ready to support the former governor weather the storms of the 2027 elections even if it is on non-party or independent candidacy to sail through the polls, expressing optimism that Advocate M.A Abubakar would cleanly make it in the forthcoming elections.
Other speakers of the group at a press briefing in Bauchi Sunday, including its state central zone vice chairman, Comrade Mohammed Dan'azumi Ningi recalled that the decades-old 'concerned citizens' was initially created and registered by M. A Abubakar himself, when he was a barrister.
