Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has granted amnesty to ninety six inmates serving various Jail terms in correctional centers across the state.
He also settled fines and compensations of seven million naira as part of the requirement to guarantee their freedom.
Addressing the inmates at Government House Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed warned them to desist from acts capable for bringing them back to the prison
Also Speaking, the state Attorney General and Chairman Advisory Committee of Prerogative of Mercy Hassan Al-Yakub SAN explained that those pardoned include inmates with mental and health challenges as well as those sentenced to long and short term of imprisonment but indicated strong commitment to repaint.
On her part, the state Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar Represented by Justice Muktar Abubakar noted that the executive pardon was inline with section 212 of the 1999 constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Some of the inmates expressed appreciation for the freedom granted them and promised to be law abiding citizens when they reunite with their family.
