Campaign Directors of Senator Lawal Yahya Gumau representing Bauchi south senatorial district, have all tendered resignation from their various positions over alleged abandonment by the lawmaker.
The include Alhaji Aminu Abubakar who was hitherto the campaign director general, former director of publicity Alhaji Salmanu Buzaye and director for disabled people, Alhaji Saleh Galambi, who all Monday in Bauchi told the press about their resignation.
The ex-directors explained that they abdicated their offices due to their abandonment by Senator Gumau and lack of heeding to their advice while conducting his activities.
They also accused the senator of preferential treatment in his representations and quarrelling with his political allies who were instrumental to his victory.
The hitherto directors announced that they would now identify with another senatorial aspirant in the zone Hon. Shehu Buba.
But in swift reaction to the development, senior legislative aide to the senator, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Lame dismissed the allegations by the former directors with a wave of hands saying that it did not come to him as a surprise considering the political antecedent of the former directors.
Speaking to newsman on phone, Lame described the former Directors as "Impatient, selfish and focus less people who are only interested in themselves not minding the collective interest of the people of the area".
He added, "Their decision to leave did not come to us as a surprise, we were expecting it long before now because they were no longer relevant to our political movement, they had long ago lost relevance in the fold because of their selfish activities".
On threat by the former Directors to pitch political tent with another politician in the area, Lame said that they are free to go anywhere because it is their rights to belong to any group, saying that it will not in any way affect his political aspirations.
He noted that his stewardship as a Senator in last 2 years has positively impacted on the lives of people of the area as he has provided a lot of dividends of democracy which are spread across the 7 LGAs that make up the district saying that the people are satisfied with the representation.
