Terror group suspected to be herdsmen, yesterday attacked Damba community in Kunai Ward, Chikun Local government Area of Kaduna state, Northwestern Nigeria.
The attack was said to have taken place on a farm land where the villagers had gone to clear the land in preparation for the farming season. The attackers wielding sophisticated weapons invaded the farm land and began shooting sporadically as the farmers scamper for safety, a community leader told War Desk News reporter.
A community youth leader and former secretary of the Gbagyi Youth Association, Comrade Abashe Dauda who confirmed the attack to War Desk News on telephone said the attackers invaded the farmland and began shooting. He said four farmers were killed on the spot while six were confirmed to have sustained various gun shot injuries. Comrade Dauda further said some farmers ran into the bushes with injuries on them.
As at the time of filing this report, the total number of persons injured during the attack was yet to be confirmed.
Chikun local government has repeatedly come under terrorist herdsmen attacks with over a hundred villages displaced since 2015 and hundreds of villagers now living in various IDP camps across Kaduna state and neighboring Niger state.
