As part of sharing and caring during the period of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Friends of President Muhammadu Buhari tagged ‘Baba For All Initiative’ have donated over 36 trucks carrying bags of rice to the less privileged people and deserving families in Bauchi State during the Holy month of Ramadan.
The package consists of 36 trucks of rice of 25kg and 50kg for distribution to less privileged members of the society by ‘Baba For All Initiative’.
Former Speaker House of Representatives Hon. Yakubu Dogara who facilitated the donation to less-privileged in the state was speaking while flagging off the distribution of the foodstuffs at ‘Double 4 Centre’, Bauchi.
Dogara, represented by the member representing Bauchi Federal Constituency, Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi, said the gesture was meant to bring succour to the people of the state in this fasting month of Ramadan.
He explained that the ‘Friends of Buhari’ consists of farmers, business merchants and politicians who are lovers of the President and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former speaker also said that the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility to support less privileged people during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
According to him, Bauchi is the second home state of the President, considering his popularity among the people of the state and the support he received there in the past elections.
“These items were facilitated by the former Speaker House of Representatives RT Honourable Yakubu Dogara to the people of Bauchi state. He nominated me and three other people to head the distribution committee.”
In his remarks, the person in charge of the distribution and storage of the foodstuffs Hon. Salisu Zakari Ningi said that the rice would be distributed to people to be drawn from all polling units across the state, as well as religious centres and political parties, assuring that a committee saddled with the distribution would ensure that deserving people benefit from the gesture.
Hon. Salisu Ningi who explained that the distribution would begin with the people with disability who are more vulnerable members of the society, lauded Mr Dogara for facilitating the donation and urged him to bring more intervention to the state.
He thanked the group ‘Baba For All Initiative’ for rendering assistance to the less privileged people of Bauchi state, saying the gesture shows that Bauchi state is the second home of Mr. President.
He also ensured that the food items will definitely reach the people to whom it was meant at all the polling units across the state.
